A Jacobite Gazetteer - Bologna


In the eighteenth century Bologna was the second city of the Papal States. King James III and VIII first visited the city in 1717, and returned many times especially during the 1720's. Queen Louise (wife of King Charles III), King Henry IX and I, and Charlotte, Duchess of Albany (daughter of King Charles III), also visited the town on a number of occasions.
