A Jacobite Gazetteer - Bologna

Casa Ricci-Curbastro

This house is located at Via San Vitale 27. It was formerly called Casa Cospi or Palazzo Ranuzzi-Cospi.

For over two years this house was the home of the Prince of Wales (later King Charles III) and the Duke of York (later King Henry IX and I). On November 23, 1726 the two young princes (then aged 5 years and 18 months respectively) moved here from Casa Belloni in order to be closer to their father King James III who resided in the neighbouring Palazzo Fantuzzi. The Prince of Wales returned to Rome with his father on January 31, 1729. The Duke of York remained in Bologna until he returned to Rome with his mother Queen Clementina on May 25, 1729. 1
